About Khampa Archives

An independent cultural documentation initiative dedicated to preserving the heritage, oral histories, traditions, and lived experiences of the Khampa community.

Khampa Archives was created to document and preserve the stories, traditions, livelihoods, festivals, and cultural practices of the Khampa community of Kullu valley and later the wider Himalayan region.

Through research, interviews, writing, photography, and digital storytelling, the project seeks to create an accessible archive that celebrates community knowledge and preserves voices that are often underrepresented in mainstream narratives.

Beyond documentation, Khampa Archives aims to encourage conversations around cultural heritage, identity, and the importance of preserving local histories for future generations.

Every story documented is a small step toward ensuring that these memories, traditions, and experiences continue to be remembered and shared.
